Hurricane Florence
I've been completely obsessed with storms my entire life. I love thunderstorms, and I love rain. I became even more obsessed with hurricanes when I moved to the South. Two years ago, I experienced my first hurricane in Savannah. Hurricane Matthew hit us pretty good and there was a lot of damage here. I saw houses in my neighborhood torn apart, trees down across the golf course that were probably hundreds of years old, and power outages everywhere. The one grocery store that was running off a generator a day after looked like we were in the middle of an apocalypse. People fighting over bread, residents of different races fighting over their place in line, and SWAT teams covering every aisle. It was insane. Then last year, we had yet another hurricane - Irma hit and we lost power for 8 days. I was 7 months pregnant and it was (at least) 90 degrees in the house.
