Whitewash Brick Fireplace - DIY

After about an hour of my time (and some of my best friend's who is visiting from Maine) and roughly $30 later, I have a whitewashed fireplace! I was hesitant because I actually didn't hate the brick to begin with, but it looked so outdated and I wanted a fresh look in the living room. I bought some cheap paint, a brush, and some rags and spent a couple minutes on YouTube and the end result is BEAUTIFUL.

I used white paint and mixed it with water - a 50/50 blend. We then cut in between the bricks first, and painted over the bricks after - painting about 10 bricks at a time and blotting/wiping clean with the rag.

I will advise you to lay down a sheet or newspaper thoroughly before doing this if you are going to attempt it - it was VERY thin and dripped a lot. I have hardwood floors and put down a lot of newspaper to avoid any unwanted paint on the floor. Anyway, here are some photos!
