Vacation!

This Girl Though!

Yes, I have been back to work for just short of a month now, and I am already taking vacation. I do have a reason though! I have a work trip to sunny California and then the following week I will be staying for my best friend's wedding! I am so excited to bring Emma to California to meet so many great people in my life that she hasn't gotten to meet yet. I am thoroughly terrified of a 6-8 hour day in airports with a four month old, though. She did well when flying to Maine at only two months, but she is more aware of things now and awake much more throughout the day so I worry about her getting fussy or being uncomfortable. To top it off, California is three hours behind us so the time difference is really going to mess up the schedule I worked so hard to get her on.

BUT I can't wait to be in California with some of my very best friends to celebrate this occasion. It isn't very often that all of us get to be together anymore, especially the girls. We all live in different parts of the country - me in Georgia, one in Hawaii, one in California, and the others in Maine. We all have busy schedules with work and kids and husbands and so many other things that it can be hard to get time together but, we always make it work. I have been super blessed to have such amazing friends in my life, men and women who I have known since I was in kindergarten. I think it's rare to have the same friends your entire life, but if you have that type of friendship you are so so lucky.

I hope Emma grows up to have friends like that. She's young now, and we don't have any family around so its tough at times, but I hope she meets her very own Katie, Laura, Allison, and Jen when shes 5 years old and it blossoms into a lifelong friendship. I hope she meets her own Dan, Moose, Salty, Nate, and Ian and has lifelong friendships with men who love her no matter what dumb crap she does, and is always there to protect and support her. For all the things in my life I hope Emma doesn't have to go through, my friendships are one thing I pray to God she gets to have.
