Grocery Shopping Made for Moms
Over the weekend I decided to try something new and use a service my grocery store provides. I live in Georgia and use Kroger for my regular grocery shopping trips. They have joined the train with online ordering and allow grocery pickups, so I thought I would give it a try.
I went online Saturday night after Emma was asleep for the night and logged into my Kroger account. I started browsing groceries and the website made it super easy for me. The first page was items that I bought on my last shopping trip, clearly information gathered from my Kroger Plus card (discount card offered by most grocery stores in one way or another). That was extremely helpful because a lot of the items are things I purchase regularly like certain fruits and veggies, breads, etc.
The site literally had everything that the store carries and then some. The one thing I worried about was produce. I am pretty picky about picking out produce. I buy avocados and tomatoes regularly, and I am very particular on how I like to buy them. The website tells you how much they cost per pound, and then how much they cost on average each. I found when picking my items up that they were pretty damn close. When I put my groceries away, I noticed the produce was in great shape, and I had no issues with what the shopper had picked out for me.
I set my pick up time for Sunday morning between 9-10 AM. When I got to Kroger I followed the signs to the side of the store where the designated "Clicklist" parking spaces were for pick up. I dialed the number on the sign at my parking space and the lady took my name and said she would be right out. She came out, came to my window and went over the list. Lettuce I had picked out was on a recall so they substituted it with another brand, no problem. She gave me my receipt and list and then loaded my trunk with my groceries, all while being super friendly.
Kroger charges a $4.95 service charge for the service, but your first three pickups are free of charge, so I will certainly be taking advantage of this. Even after that, my time is worth way more than $4.95 so I really don't mind paying the extra service fee for the convenience.
That morning when I got home I got more shit done during Emma's morning nap than I had gotten done all week, and my groceries were already done. SUPER convenient, saved me a ton of time and hassle, and I didn't have to deal with a bunch of people in the store. My Kroger is very very busy at all times, so this is a big deal when you are shopping with a baby in tow. I would highly recommend this method of shopping for any mom that is pressed for time (that's pretty much every mom), works full time, a single mom who is doing it alone, or just anyone who wants to save themselves a headache at the grocery store.
